[Review] Lacuna Coil - Broken Crown Halo

I was so thrilled when Cristina Scabbia announced in her Instagram in the end of 2013 that Lacuna Coil will release their 7th album called Broken Crown Halo at the early year of 2014. IMO, overall this album is better than their last album Dark Adrenaline (2012), except of course the tracks "Give Me Something More", "Kill The Light" and the super sweet cover song of R.E.M "Losing My Religion", always be my fave ones of Dark Adrenaline album. But in the Broken Crown Halo, they dare to add some new atmospheres of a darker, bolder and more powerful music, packed with honest lyrics. I feel some new Lacuna Coil who still keep their 'signature' style of musicality.

Try listening to "Die & Rise", "I Burn In You", "Victims" and "One Cold Day". I particularly love "Zombie", "Die & Rise" and "One Cold Day". The piano in the track One Cold Day is somewhat soul-sucking, mind-blowing and surreal at the same time. And in Die & Rise, I looove love love when Scabbia sings her mother tongue lines,

Risorgero in ogni momento poiche
So che in vita si tramutera

(Damn! So sexy!)

I hope their next album will have the same kind of hardness and softness in their music simultaneously. And seriously, they need to sing a full gothic metal song in Italian language. I dig it <3

Would rate 8 out of 10 for Broken Crown Halo. Good job, guys! Ti amo non importa cosa ;)

LYRICS

Black was the night when I did surrender
I did give in to my weakening sight
Now that I'm empty my dreams once were many
Soul's bitter cry to unleash th divine

When you think there's no way out
And all you see collides
Hope will in the end chase all your fears away

Fighting the source was not recommended
Trails of a wish were the hope to survive
skins full ablazing release crystal gazing
All of it led to a deeper demise

When you think there's no way out
And no one comprehends
Hope will show your smile again

What I left behind
Another night
Of weary dreams, unravelling
What's been left behind
Another time
Where days of late are far away
Far away

Losing my reasons,
No lies to believe in
Left the obscure to
The means of escape

Core has been shaken,
There is no more pain to break me
Time has commenced and I long to awake

When you think there's no way out
Leave everything behind
You can live your life anew

Dark days behind me
Won't ever break me now

All that I left behind
Another night
Of weary dreams, unravelling
What's been left behind
Another time
Where days of late are far away

Far away

Just another night
In another time

[Daily style] Aahh... At last

Salam 'alaikum!

After been in ups and downs with GELAP, for the first time of history... I finally have my own band's t-shirt! LOL. Really, I'm not exaggerating... Gelap has released 3 or 4 types of t-shirt if I'm not mistaken... But I never really HAD ONE! Hahaha, I don't know. Everytime I asked the manager bout the tees, it always sold out. It left 3 kinds of questions in my mind; Was he lie? Or was it a limited edition? Or is Gelap that famous? (The last question is absolutely stupid, LOL).

Anyway, love this new tees design. If you want one too, you can order it at @PerjuanganD

Wassalam,
G.

[Me time] The dark mistress

Hijab: From Mecca. Tees: Rancid tees Lace skirt: Rismakill. Stretch denim: A present. Accessories: Unbranded. Wedges: TLTSH

Salam 'alaikum!

Since I'm endorsing @ZirraaOlshop, like it or not, I have to match my dress with the hijabs she has sent to me. And as a Hijab Online Store, Zirraa offers so many cute bright colors as the pattern. Therefore, I almost have no time to dress like me. But fortunately at Friday - in which I always said it as my "Freeday!" - I am permitted to dress with anything I like as long as it's appropriate. That's why, when becoming a "dark mistress", I have to wait till Friday. But no worries, it's a sweet waiting anyway. I don't mind at all ;)

Happy Monday all. Barakallah ^^

[Cover Song] Somewhere - Within Temptation. Dedicated to Gaza

Salam 'alaikum,

Most of TV channels now are broadcasting news about the genocide Israel has been doing upon Gaza civilians. As their muslim sisters & brothers don't we feel as much hurt as they do? Does your feeling got crushed by seeing those assaults and catastrophes Israelis do to The Palestinians?

As much as I want to go there to help my brothers & sisters as much as I can with my own bare hands, but I can't. All I can do now is just pray for them. Pray, every time! Pray for Gaza everytime you pray for yourself, your parents, your children. Pray. They deserve to be remembered as much as you remember your own family. And Donate!

Donate anything you have for them, even if it's just a little. Show them you care.

This cover song I made is just one tiny little thing I can do now for now to remember Gaza, besides praying & donating. It may valueless for their struggle now, but I hope this song can help you remember about them, and act something to help them bear the pain.

#PrayForGaza
#GazaUnderAttack
#FreePalestine
#ITJPeduliGaza

Wassalam,
G.

[Fashion] Between the old city & the Hijab Hunt contest

Salam 'alaikum dearest readers,

IED MUBARAK!

Taqoballahu minna wa minkum, taqoballahu yaa kareem!

Sad & happy! Those words are prolly the best words to represent my feeling today. Sad. Because I have to say g'bye with Ramadhan month (Ya Allah, I hope I still can taste the joyous Ramadhan next month, Aamiin...). Happy. Because finally Iedul Fitri has finally here. Pray to Allah that He is willing to accept all of our ibadah for the whole year (not only in Ramadhan month) & forgive all of our sins.

And I would like to ask for a sincere apology for you all, known or unknown... For I have sinned. Maafin gue yaaaa.... *kisses & hugs*

Anyway the pics below are belated pics that I took on August 11 in Kota Tua. There's this place in which people would consider spooky - yet I think that place is swaaagg! So my husband wanted to sharpen his photography skill, and I wanted to participate in Hijab Hunt by Dian Pelangi. So there... He needed a model, I needed a photographer. What a real mutual relationship we have isn't it? LOL

Hijab: From Mecca. The Agonist tees & gothic lace skirt: Rismakill. Accessories: Unbranded. Boots: Rinsdark

Speaking about Hijab Hunt, I really need your help, ladies. Please go to this link and please give comment & rate for my post. The rate is on the right-side, around the top of the page. And to give them you need to register in the forum. Pleeease gimme your favor will ya? Actually this is the first time I ever participated in this kind of contest. At first I didn't feel confident, but then again I thought "why don't I give a try?" (Since I discreetly have passion in modelling & fashion :p)

And for all the participants I wish you beautiful girls good luck! I hope we can be real friends ;)

Barakallahu fiik... Happy Lebaran once more & remember, do not torture your tummy to work the food out too much, okay? :D

Wassalam,
G.

[Book] Labour of Love And Hate

Salam 'alaikum,

So, how's your fasting so far, peeps? So far so good, yes? Inshallah... :)

Well, I wanna share to you this amazing book in which I & Rinsdark were being interviewed. As my previous entry on December last year titled, "Official trailer for the book Labour of Love & Hate." / a.k.a LOLAH, I shared an info about the upcoming book project done by the siblings John Resborn & Lena Resborn from Sweden. The book itself tells about the underground scene in Southeast Asia, from the lifestyle, the music, the fashion till the mission behind the music. Aaand my band Gelap was one of the interviewees in that book. John & Lena interviewed me & Rinsdark [We both are the vocalists of Gelap] in around late March, 2009 [I was still single that time, 2 weeks to go before my marriage, hehehe].

And after 3 years running, finally the book is ready to be released! And holaa...! There I am inside the book! ^___^

This is me inside of the pages in this book

Me & Rinsdark with the book Labour of Love & Hate. Wohooo!

The shocking news is that, several copies of this book have been handed over to some of the rocking legends of underground scene across the world such as Max Cavalera [Sepultura], Randy Blythe [Lamb of God], Marilyn Manson, Dez Fafara [Devil Driver], Adam Dutkiewicz [Killswitch Engage] and other bands like Trivium, Slayer, Gojira, Machine Head etc. Aaaakkk!! I think I wanna faint out knowing that they actually have the book! *tari pisang*

Below are some pics about LOLAH articles in media around Sweden

I really hope someday this book can be found in any bookstore in Jakarta. Right now, the book can only be found in one of my metalhead friends in Bandung named Zemo Cabalero. If you wanna buy it, just click the link & send him message. He also sell the t-shirt [yeaay!].

I'm proud. We're proud. After the booming video titled "Global Metal" [You can search the video in Youtube. The length of the video is quite long so it's divided into some parts of the video. One of the video is this.], now the underground scene from Southeast Asia is re-raised up to the surface once again by these two amazing siblings through their book :)

This harsh music & this scene has being my air since God knows when. I love metal & gothic music so much! Let's keep metal alive!

Wassalam,
G.
